JOB DESCRIPTION
Ascend Interplay is looking for a Partner to lead and scale our new secondary investment division. Interplay is a startup ecosystem that supports founders via venture capital, an accelerator, a studio, a platform of core business services, and a multi-family office.

This new division will focus on acquiring secondary shares from pre-IPO private companies, providing liquidity solutions for founders, early investors, and employees. The right person for this role will have the opportunity to build and grow a best-in-class secondary investment platform within Interplay, achieving financial success and professional fulfillment in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

We are looking for a high-caliber investment professional with deep expertise in valuation, deal structuring, and investment evaluation. This person will work closely with the other partners at Interplay to establish and scale our secondary investment practice.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build and lead the secondary investment division, creating an operational framework for long-term success.
- Determine private company valuation and return targets.
- Identify and assess secondary investment opportunities in high-growth private companies.
- Establish and maintain relationships with LPs, co-investors, and strategic partners.
- Construct and oversee investment portfolios, ensuring strong risk-adjusted returns.
- Design and optimize workflows for due diligence, transaction execution, and portfolio reporting.
- Stay ahead of trends in private secondary markets and position Interplay as a key player in the space.

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience in secondary investments, private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, investment banking, or corporate strategy.
- Ability to engage and build relationships with limited partners and private company shareholders.
- Expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and investment due diligence.
- Operational skills to build and scale a high-growth investment practice.

- Have relevant work experience, preferably from private equity, hedge funds, VC, investment banking, strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or relevant business development experience.
- Have an undergraduate degree from a top university with a strong academic background in finance or another quantitative major and relevant internship experience. An MBA/CFA is nice to have.
- Are savvy with spreadsheets.
- Are hyper-organized.
- Have the ability to work well in an unstructured environment.
- VC experience is not necessary, but it's preferred.
